Crochet Lace Shorts DIY

I know summer is over... but these look cute with tights and boots so let's make them anyway!

You will need...
1 pair of solid black men's undershorts in a size that fits you (I got mine at Target)
Black sport weight yarn (I got mine at Michael's)
E Crochet Hook
Needle
Black Thread
Scissors
Interweave's Book - Crochet Edgings and Trims

Gather your supplies. Go through your edgings book and pick one. I picked ZigZag Dainty on page 76 and altered it just a little and this is how...

Bobble: work 3 triple crochet into the next stitch leaving the last stitch of each triple crochet on the hook. Yarn over and pull through all 4 loops on hook.

Chain a multiple of 6 that fits around the bottom leg of your shorts +1.
Row 1: 1 Sc in 2nd Ch from hook and in each Ch across. Turn.
Row 2-3: Ch 1. 1 Sc in each Sc of previous row. Turn.
Row 4: Ch 8 (counts as Dc, Ch5). *Skip the next 5 Sc. 1 Dc in next stitch. Repeat from * across. Turn.
Row 5: Ch 6. 1 bobble into first Dc. *into next dc work (1 bobble, Ch5, 1 bobble). Repeat from * to top of Ch8 of previous row. Into 3rd Ch work (1 bobble, Ch 2, Trc)
Row 6: Ch 1. 1 Sc into first Trc. *Ch 7. 1 Sc into Ch 5 space of previous row. Repeat from * across. At the end, place last sc into 4th chain of the beginning of the previous row.
Row 7: Ch 1. 1 Sc into first Sc. *9 Sc into next Ch 7 arch, 1 Sc into next Sc. repeat from * to end.
Cut and bind off, and repeat all of this to go around the other leg.

Weave in all your loose ends, thread your sewing needle, and hand stitch the crochet pieces you have made to the bottom of your shorts. If you don't crochet, you can buy some lace to sew on here instead. Same thing...

YAY! Congrats on finishing some totally fun shorts (wear with tights when it's cold, people... no leg freezing)! Warmer sweaters and such coming soon!
