So... Over the summer I started reading the book Overdressed: The Shockingly High Cost of Cheap Fashion and became inspired to start my clothing challenge. No buying anything new for 6 months... and I did it. I bought some new things in December for birthdays and Christmas... and now I think I'll go another 6 months without anything new...
Since all of my shopping experiences lately have been at thrift shops... you can imagine how much I love this song... Usually, my taste in music is a little more calm than this... but I can't listen to this one without busting out a smile.
Fair warning... there is language in this song that some (many?) do not enjoy.
Now I feel the need to go thrifting. Haha.

Things
There are a lot of things going on over here... time for an update!
1. The pattern book is selling great so far! Check out the side bar of the blog over here ------->
and buy a copy from Annie's Attic! 8 great patterns for only $9... that's a pretty awesome deal!
2. In the process of getting Amanda's Dress, Diana's Dress, and the Weekender Bag available for downloads on the Annie's Attic website. Amanda's Dress is in need of some serious higher quality photos... so... photo shoot this weekend! YAY!
3. Also in the process of getting the Beach Sweater into a great online magazine for next summer! Check out Inspired Crochet - a digital magazine! Working on my graphic design skills today... they are somewhat lacking...
4. Still making lots of new exciting things for Renegade and a January feature in the boutique Kansas City Kitty! In need of an epic stitch n b*tch!
5. Yesterday was Nov 7, which means one month left of the clothing challenge! I haven't bought a NEW piece of clothing since JUNE! BOOM! (Although I am in pretty desperate need of a new white tank top... which is hard to find thrifted...)
6. And unrelated to stitching... last night I returned to my modern dance roots and went and saw Ailey II! Anyone seen them? Revelations is still the most impressive and historically significant dance piece I've seen in real life... fighting back tears the whole first half and the urge to get up and dance the whole second half. Check 'em out...
Of course the actual piece is very long... these are just the highlights... really so amazing!
7. AND FINALLY... OK! I need some advice and honest feedback from my Etsy customers and fellow sellers. I sell both patterns and finished items in my little online shop. To distinguish between the two, I have them in different shop sections and all patterns have the word PATTERN in the title, picture, tag, and description. Still, I have a lot of customers buying patterns and expecting a bag in the mail... yikes! Anyone else have this problem? Any creative solutions?
Ok... and that's it. Still working on the two knit hat patterns I'm hoping to get out this week... I just got too distracted with Ailey excitement yesterday! EEK! So good! Definitely go see them if they are coming to a city near you!

75 and Sunny
Hi All!
I'm so so very sorry I haven't posted in so so very long! In the last few weeks, I decided a bit last minute to do an outdoor market this weekend- The French Nest, applied and was accepted to Renegade in San Fran (more on all that later), applied for grad school (EEK!), had a garage sale at my house, enjoyed an awesome visit from Rachel from Washington (one of my very best friends), and made a whole stash of large and small Weekender Bags and Roll Top Backpacks (which if you've made those - know it takes quite a bit of time). Anyway... been quite busy and there have been far less posts, DIY's, and patterns. And that makes me sad. BUT, after this Saturday - returning to all that full force! And just in time for the little BOOK RELEASE! Geez Louise... there's a lot going on over here!
How many of you guys have gotten stuck doing outdoor markets in horrible weather? I have far far far too many times. In fact, when I was at the Salt Lake Farmer's Market - I swear mother nature would play one big joke on me with absolutely perfect weather all week long until market day... week after week. It was a downer. Which is why I'm so crazy excited the forecast for this weekend is 75 AND SUNNY!!! Thanks Colorado! And it reminded me of one of my favorite songs I listen to all the time! I'll definitely be playing it at my booth this weekend - so if you are in Northern Colorado - come visit!!! Etsy shop will be closed Saturday - check Ravelry and Craftsy for any pattern needs you may have!

Mumford and Colorado...
You might not like this video as much as me if you are not also from Colorado (home of Red Rocks). You especially might not like this video as much as me if you didn't get to see Mumford and Sons in the beautiful Colorado mountains a couple weeks ago. I am currently obsessed. (Thanks, Emma!)

Why Coloradoans Rock and Texans Not So Much (Some weekend Insta-SLC)
Here are some instagram photos of my Labor Day weekend!
Saw Saints of Valory, Trombone Shorty and Orleans Avenue, and Mumford and Sons at Jazz Aspen Snowmass (all amazing). Oatmeal pancakes in Aspen, dog walking/pool sitting/movie watching/ dinner eating/ hiking in Vail. It was a pretty good weekend.
Some reasons Coloradoans ROCK:
- The super fun crowd at the concert, who all cheered loudly when Mumford panted that we were all crazy to live at such an altitude.
-The awesome, super prepared guys with their bike lights. (We maybe foolishly thought it would be a great idea to walk the bike path back to our car instead of waiting 10 hours in line for the shuttle...until the bike path ended and we found ourselves walking along a windy mountain road in the dark with all the shuttle buses... and a group of super prepared guys whipped out their flashing bike lights and spread out among all the walkers, pretty much saving us from being run over! Awesome.)
-Friendly firefighters that help you find a place to sleep at night when all the camp grounds are full.
-Getting invited to dinner with a bunch of chefs we had never met before! (YUM and thank you!)
-Friendly hikers and their friendly dogs.
-All the good spirited people stuck in traffic with their windows rolled down enjoying the mountain air.
And Texans not so much...
While the rest of us were all patiently waiting in traffic on the way back to Denver, an SUV with Texas plates kept exiting and hopping back on the freeway in an attempt to bypass about 50 cars. Since we saw them do that a couple of times... it obviously wasn't working... so then they started driving in the shoulder to pass people... really not cool. Not cool one bit, Texas! (If you are from Texas and come to visit our great state... we don't do stuff like that here. We're a friendly, layed-back, patient people. Unless your wife is having a baby in the back... don't do that! Thanks in advance.)

On the Road... Part 1.
I'm hitting the road today. My little car is packed up with as few clothes as I could manage (I love my clothes a little too much), an army bag of blankets, my sewing machine, crochet hooks, knitting needles, my favorite stitching books, and some yarn (of course).
Oh yeah... and Mom. Mama Kay is in there too so she can keep me company on the drive, visit the Cali fam, and have a 55th birthday celebration road trip. Happy Birthday, mommy love!
Why am I heading out to California (and leaving my Rocky Mountain loves behind)? Because of this... read this LETTER TO YOU!
So if I can, to keep up this blog, I'm going to post about all I'm listening to in the car... cause it's also what I really like listening to while I stitch... so here ya go... beginning the while you stitch/drive blog roll now...
First thing I'll be listening to and loving in the car is THIS... the new Black Keys Album, El Camino. Here are some of my favorite tracks... definitely an album worth buying!
