African Fabric... finally used!

Almost 3 years ago I took my first trip to Africa and brought home the most amazing treasures from Ghana, West Africa. Amongst the drums, paintings, statues, and jewelry, I brought home a few yards of the most amazing batik fabric I've ever seen. We spent some time in a batik shop, and after spending a few hours amongst hot wax and bent over a dye bucket, I have a whole new respect for all the work that goes into making this fabric so amazing.

I would LOVE to learn to batik! (If any of you know how out there, tips are welcome!) Anyhow... I was afraid to do anything with the fabric I brought home because it is so special and I wanted whatever I made to be perfect. So, finally, I took the chance and made this crochet and African print dress. I'm loving it, and can't wait for the weather to be permanently warm so I can wear it everywhere!
