The Basic Beanie

It's been a long long time since I have posted a free pattern... so here is a very basic crochet beanie... enjoy!

Supplies:
I hook
1 skein worsted weight yarn

Stitches:
Chain (Ch)
Single Crochet (Sc)
Slip Stitch (Sl st)


Ch 4.
Join in a small circle by sl st into the first ch.

Row 1: Ch 1. Sc 7 times into the loop made by the ch 4. Join with sl st. (7 sc)

Row 2: Ch 1. 2 Sc into each Sc of previous row (increases made). Join with sl st. (14 Sc)

Row 3: Ch 1. *1 Sc into first Sc. 2 Sc into next Sc (increase made). Repeat from * 6 more times. Join with sl st. (21 Sc)

Row 4: Ch 1. *1 Sc in each of the next 2 Sc of previous row. 2 Sc into next Sc (increase made). Repeat from * 6 more times. Join with sl st. (28 Sc)

Row 5: Ch 1. *1 Sc in each of the next 3 Sc of previous row. 2 Sc into next Sc (increase made). Repeat from * 6 more times. Join with sl st. (35 Sc)

Row 6: Ch 1. *1 Sc in each of next 4 Sc of previous row. 2 Sc into next sc (increase made). Repeat from * 6 more times. Join with sl st. (42 sc)

Row 7: Ch 1. *1 Sc in each of next 5 Sc of previous row. 2 Sc into next sc (increase made). Repeat from * 6 more times. Join with sl st. (49 sc)

Row 8: Ch 1. *1 Sc in each of next 6 Sc of previous row. 2 Sc into next sc (increase made). Repeat from * 6 more times. Join with sl st. (56 sc)

Row 9: Ch 1. *1 Sc in each of next 7 Sc of previous row. 2 Sc into next sc (increase made). Repeat from * 6 more times. Join with sl st. (63 sc)

Row 10: Ch 1. *1 Sc in each of next 8 Sc of previous row. 2 Sc into next sc (increase made). Repeat from * 6 more times. Join with sl st. (70 sc)

Row 11: Ch 1. 1 Sc in each sc around (no increases made). Join with sl st. (70 Sc)

Repeat Row 11 until hat measures 8 inches from top to bottom. (Or more or less... try it on and see how you like it!)

Also... make this hat a bit more fun and add some colored stripes wherever your heart desires! I added some red, yellow, and green to make it rasta style! Fun!
